Scientists From Europe Win Nobel Prize in Medicine

French scientists Francoise Luc Montagnier and Barre-Sinoussi who discovered human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV and German Harald zur Hausen the one who found human papilloma viruses (HPV) which cause cervical cancer won the Nobel Prize in Medicine.

Harald zur Hausen, a medical doctor and researcher received the half of US$1.4 million prize, while the Francoise Luc Montagnier and Barre-Sinoussi took home the remaining half of the prize.
