The San Beda Red Lions will go up against the San Sebastian Stags in the Game 1 of the best-of-three series of 85th Season of NCAA Finals today, October 22, 2009.
“When you are in the finals, it’s all or nothing. So you don’t have an excuse, you just leave all those factors behind and play,” said San Beda coach Frankie Lim, whose team eliminated Letran on the semi final round.
On the other hand, Stag coach Ato Agustin expects a true battle saying that “We expect a great and exciting series, it’s going to be war.” San Sebastian needed two games to throw out Jose Rizal Unieversity. This is Stag’s first final appearance in almost six years.
In their first encounter, the Stags pulled up a victory at the score of 83-77. However, the Lions came abck with a revenge as they staged a 71-67 win in the second round.
