Iran Rips Philippines in Fiba Asia 2009 thumbnail

Defending champion Iran pipped Team Powerade Pilipinas today, 88-78 in the second round of Fiba Asia 2009.

Trailing as much as 24 points in the first half, coach Yeng Guiao squad made a threatening rally to get closer at 73-82 with 4:10 left on the game clock. But then it was not enough to sustain the momentum against the team led by Mohammadsamad Nikkah (25 points), and NBA Memphis Grizzlies center Ehadadi with 21 points and 16 monstrous rebounds.

Willie Miller showed the way for the Filipinos with 14 markers and 9 rebounds. James Yap also contributed 14 while Gabe Nowood added 13.

Tomorrow, the Team Pilipinas will be facing Kuwait.

    too much dribbling and one on one plays, they should learn how to play the fiba brand of play wher the emphasis is ball rotation. i think we can never regain our basketball glory in asia, look at our line up, are they filipino looking? compare that to other team where every players are natives except for some middle east teams.
