Jordan Beats Philippines in Fiba Asia 2009 Quarterfinals

Jordan ended the final four bid of Powerade Team Pilipinas after scorching a victory on Friday, 81-70, on the quarterfinals of Fiba Asia 2009 at Tianjin, China.

The Philippines had enjoyed a 2 point-lead, 24-22 with about three minutes gone on the second quarter. However, the Jordanians staged a strong comeback in the final minutes of the second canto and ended the half with 12-point-lead, 45-33.

But then, Team Pilipinas had one final push as Gabe Norwood propelled an 8-1 run with two three-pointers plus Cyrus Baguio’s lay-up to get closer, 68-63 with 5:55 left on the game clock.

Rasheim Wright and Zaid Abbas led the Jordan squad with 21 and 20 points respectively.
