Nonito Donaire vs. Rafael Concepcion Fight

Update: Nonito Donaire beats Rafael Concepcion via unanimous decision.

The battle for the WBA interim super flyweight title between Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire and Rafael “El Torito” Concepcion is set on August 15, 2009 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA at 3:30pm.

Donaire, who is holding a record of 21-1-0 with 14 Kos, is the overwhelming favorite for the fight, being undefeated since 2001 and won his last five fights including KO victories over Vic Darchinyan and Raul Martinez.

On the other hand, Conception 13-3-1 with 8 Kos is now on his two-match winning streak and seeks to continue it with Donaire. The Panamanian boxer held the interim WBA title at 115 pounds last year after upsetting Pinoy prospect AJ Banal with a 10th round knockout in July.
