Philippines Devastates Sri Lanka on Fiba Asia 2009

The Team Pilipinas has proven to be a formidable squad in the opener of FIBA Asia 2009, after devastating the Sri Lanka Nationals, 115-31 at Tianjin, China on August 6.

The Filipinos seemed to be starved crocodiles in opening salvo, as they ripped the Sri Lankans right from the first half, 44-17.

Led by coach Yeng Guiao, the team will be facing Japan tommorow, August 7 at 9PM. It can be noted that the Japanese beat the Filipinos on the recent Jones Cup via hairline victory, 87-85.

However, Guiao still believes that Japan is beatable saying “Ang emphasis talaga is to learn as much as we can against them. We know naman in our hearts na kaya natin silang talunin pag dating sa Tianjin (FIBA Asia men’s championship).”
